The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has criticized the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing it of failing to deliver on key promises and misleading Ghanaians.
Speaking to the media, he described the party as a “National Deceivers Congress,” alleging that its policies and commitments have not translated into tangible results for citizens.
Mr. Ahmed Shaib questioned the feasibility of the government’s proposed 24-hour economy, arguing that persistent power challenges undermine its implementation.
"How can you run 24-hour economy without you having 8 hours electricity on, and they are now telling you that it's because of a situation at akosombo, do you know when the light started getting off more than 3 months ago," he argued.
The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, accused the government of failing to honour promises made as well as not meeting expectations in job. creation.
"They told cocoa farmers they were going to give them increments in their pay, what has happened? A drastic haircut.
"And they told you they were going to give you jobs. 506,000 young men and women applied to be made part of the security agencies; you are giving only 5,000 of them, what about the other 501,000? Where are they to go?
"And now you have come to do your deceivers beat again, the deception as usual. So now we've extended it to 40,000 for four years; that is what is happening.
"They said we were going to cancel teacher licensure exams, have they cancelled? No," he cited.
