The Minister of Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson and his Deputy, Thomas Nyarko Ampem have submitted their annual tax returns, as part of efforts demonstrating leadership and encourage tax compliance among citizens.
In a statement, the minister emphasized that paying taxes is a shared civic responsibility and a critical foundation for good governance.
He stressed that "public officials, professionals, businesses, and citizens are all equal before the law, and we must all comply."
Beyond its legal requirement, Mr. Ato Forson described tax compliance as a moral duty, explaining that when citizens pay their fair share, the burden is distributed more equitably and development is accelerated.
He noted that tax revenues play a crucial role in funding key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security.
The Minister also called on individuals and businesses yet to file their returns to do so promptly, encouraging them to take advantage of available digital platforms and support systems.
