The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has suspended his planned “Thank You” tour of the North East Region following rising security concerns.
The decision comes in the wake of a recent attack on a military escort convoy in Binduri that reportedly left three civilians dead, heightening tensions in the area.
The two day tour, scheduled from April 29 to April 30, 2026, was called off after security agencies advised against proceeding due to the evolving situation.
Party sources say the move is purely precautionary. “The suspension is a safety measure to protect party members, supporters and all participants,” a source indicated, adding that the party does not want to risk further escalation.
The incident in Binduri has triggered increased vigilance across parts of the North East Region, particularly regarding public gatherings involving political figures.
