Gov't begins grant disbursement under Adwumawura Programme

The Government of Ghana, through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has commenced the disbursement of grants to beneficiaries under the 2025 cohort of the Adwumawura Programme.

The initiative, which is aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship, supporting business growth, and creating jobs, has so far trained and mentored 10,887 young Ghanaians across the country.

Participants underwent five weeks of intensive entrepreneurial training, followed by six months of structured mentorship designed to strengthen their business models and operational capacity.

As part of the transition to funding, a Grant Management Committee was established to oversee a rigorous and transparent selection process. The committee comprises representatives from academia, government institutions, financial agencies, development partners, and the private sector.

Beneficiaries were required to submit detailed business plans, which were assessed based on scalability, job creation potential, sustainability, and feasibility. Applications underwent an initial screening process before shortlisted candidates advanced to a nationwide pitching stage, where they presented their ideas for further evaluation.

Following the process, 3,212 beneficiaries have been selected from across all regions to receive grant support.

The commencement of disbursement marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the Adwumawura Programme and underscores government’s commitment to reducing youth unemployment and promoting inclusive economic growth.

NEIP says it will continue to support beneficiaries through monitoring and business advisory services to ensure the sustainability of funded enterprises.

Meanwhile, prospective applicants who were unsuccessful in the 2025 cohort are encouraged to apply when the 2026 application portal opens.
