South Africans have staged an anti-foreigner protest, captured in a viral video showing protesters chasing foreign nationals who have travelled to, and migrated within, the country.
The protesters particularly targeted African migrants from countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
In the footage, some African migrants were seen being beaten and assaulted in broad daylight by South African protesters.
The video also captured a woman speaking to a Ghanaian man, telling him to go back to his home country and “fix his country”, insisting that he should not remain in South Africa.
She argued that people come to their host country as visitors, but then fail to leave and instead integrate and stay permanently.
“We are fixing this continent this thing of you guys moving from one country to the other, we don't want this African people anymore we are tired of seeing African migrants moving all over the world refusing to fix your own countries.
"Now we are making it very clear, we don't want you here we want you to fix your country now you came here with a passport, you know that you are a visitor, now you have come and integrate in our community, you know very well that what you have done is wrong," she said.
She highlighted that they as South Africans can not come to Ghana to do what the migrants are doing, saying that coming as a visitor and staying as a permanent citizen is wrong, noting that he is supposed to be in Ghana and helping to fix the country rather than running to his country to stay there.
"We can't come to Ghana and do what you are doing now you are carrying your bag and it is 11am you are supposed to be fighting the Ghana made of Ghana to ensure that they are getting things like, you are here," she stated.
Sources indicated that they believe foreign nationals should support and rebuild their own countries rather than remaining there and draining taxpayer-funded resources.
