A 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, has been remanded into custody by the Asokore Mampong District Court for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Sally Benson, in what police suspect to be a case of domestic violence at Ayigya-Maxima in Kumasi.
The deceased, 33-year-old Sally Benson, was a well-known beautician and entrepreneur in the area.
According to the prosecution, Sally had visited Arthur’s residence in the company of a female friend after reportedly receiving information that his baby mama was at the premises. However, Arthur was not at home upon their arrival.
Police say the suspect returned shortly afterwards, triggering a heated confrontation between the couple.
Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare, who is leading the prosecution, told the court that the altercation escalated into violence, during which Arthur allegedly assaulted Sally, repeatedly striking her until she lost consciousness.
Realising the gravity of the situation, the suspect reportedly rushed her in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
A police examination is said to have revealed visible marks of assault on her neck and chest.
Arthur was arraigned before Her Ladyship Hilda Esther Wryter on Tuesday, who ordered his remand into custody.
He is expected to reappear before the court on May 8, 2026, as investigations continue.
