The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has declared Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple a fugitive from justice, amid ongoing investigations into alleged gold fraud involving his company, SESI-EDEM Ltd.
In a statement dated April 9, 2026, EOCO said the Council of State member for the Volta Region is currently on the run and is believed to be hiding within the region.
EOCO disclosed that its Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) has been deployed to track, identify, and arrest him as part of efforts to advance investigations.
According to the anti-graft agency, Dr Kwamigah-Atokple has failed to cooperate with investigators despite being given multiple opportunities since November 2025 to respond to allegations against him and SESI-EDEM Ltd.
“Dr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple is a fugitive from justice who is on the run,” the statement said, urging the public to provide credible information on his whereabouts to the nearest EOCO office.
EOCO further indicated that it is currently handling three separate petitions linked to SESI-EDEM Ltd, all centered on alleged gold fraud and similar operational patterns.
The agency also accused promoters of the company of attempting to obstruct justice by engaging in political, traditional, and media campaigns instead of submitting to formal investigative processes.
Reaffirming its mandate, EOCO stressed that no individual is above the law and vowed to ensure the suspect is arrested and brought before the courts.
The development has also drawn public attention following comments from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, though EOCO maintains that its investigations will continue independently and without interference.
SESI-EDEM Ltd, the company at the center of the allegations, remains under active scrutiny as investigations proceed.
