Tema Motorway manager praises government for local contract award

Project manager for the Tema Motorway, Ing. Ben Sackey, has commended government for awarding a road contract to a local firm, calling it a strong endorsement of Ghanaian capacity.

Speaking with the press, he assured the team will deliver to the highest standards and said the expansion will showcase Ghanaian expertise and engineering excellence.

“ This project is like a complete 100% portfolio of an experience where it can take us to anywhere, so we give thanks to Ghana, we give thanks to the president for giving we the local contractors this opportunity,” he said.

He noted it is the first time a local firm is leading a concrete-road project, which also includes asphalt work, and gave 100% assurance of quality.

“ I can give 100% assurance because we know the type of quality we are putting into the road,” he said.

He explained that the urban highway section is being built from virgin ground, a test case that will let users judge Ghanaian skill.

He further stated that the firm is fully committed as the nation watches, stressing that success will encourage more opportunities for local contractors.

“ We are putting all our commitment because we know Ghanaians are watching and we want to take it from here if Ghanaians can handle infrastructure like this, it will be very appreciative for the president to feel okay to give more of such projects to Ghanaians to do it,” he said.

He added that the firm will work at a faster pace without compromising quality and is determined to deliver a project Ghanaians can be proud of.
