The Minister for the Interior, acting on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has renewed the curfew hours for Nkwanta Township and its environs in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
The curfew will be in effect from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, starting Monday, January 19, 2026.
A statement issued and signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak emphasised the Government's commitment to urging Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the general populace to exercise restraint in the face of ongoing challenges.
The Minister assured citizens that non-violent means will be promoted to channel energies towards ensuring peace in the area.
Additionally, there is a total ban on all individuals within Nkwanta Township and its surroundings from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons.
"Any person found in possession of such items will be arrested and prosecuted," it stated.
