Three congregants, two women and one man, lost their lives when a four-storey block at the Experimental D/A School in Accra New Town gave way, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.
The incident took place at about 5pm on Sunday, March 29, 2026, while 23 individuals, 15 females and eight males, including three children, were inside the building.
Thanks to prompt and committed action by GNFS teams and collaborating agencies, 20 people were freed from the wreckage and transported to various medical centres for treatment.
The remains of three victims were recovered from the debris and handed to the police for safekeeping and further enquiries.
Emergency and security personnel remain at the scene to finish clearing the rubble and to secure the area.
