Children of Daddy Lumba request privacy to grieve their father amid funeral controversy

The children of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba have broken their silence amid ongoing controversies surrounding the funeral and burial arrangements for their father.

In a joint statement, the children made an emotional appeal to the public, asking for privacy and respect as they mourn their father in accordance with his wishes.

The statement comes at a time when the family has been drawn into public discussions involving legal battles, court injunctions, and calls from some traditional authorities for the possible exhumation of the musician’s body.

According to the children, they are not involved in any of the legal processes currently attracting public attention and do not wish to be part of any disputes linked to the funeral arrangements.

“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not parties to this legal process and that we do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements.

"Our only desire is to honour our father’s memory in a dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions,” part of the statement read.

They also emphasised that the children of the legendary musician remain united across all family lines, dismissing any claims suggesting division within the family.

The family further appealed to the public and the media to exercise restraint in their commentary, stressing that the focus should remain on celebrating the life and legacy of the late music icon rather than fuelling controversy.
