A member of the Communications Team for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Grace Akosua Amoabeng, has asserted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is attempting to defend themselves regarding the Russian-Ukraine war for their own selfish interests.
She made this statement during a discussion on GHONE TV about the negative impacts of the Iran-Israel war, noting that when the NPP was in power, the NDC claimed that the Russian-Ukraine conflict did not affect Ghana.
"We were in this country when they stated that the Russian-Ukraine war didn’t impact anyone in Ghana, yet we later saw its effects here.
"Now that we are facing the Iran conflict, they are warning us that this war will affect us and lead to rising prices in Ghana. There is a projection that fuel prices could reach 17 cedis," she explained.
Ms. Amoabeng alleged that the NDC government insisted that the Russian-Ukraine war did not affect Ghanaians, but they are now acknowledging the potential impact of the ongoing Iran-Israel war simply because it is their government in power.
She urged the NDC to fulfil their commitments to the citizens.
"It is imperative that they address the needs of the public and honour the promises they made.
"These are the reasons the people voted for them and placed their trust in them. That’s why they’re calling for a meeting to discuss and implement the decisions made as soon as possible," she said.
