Theophilus Dzimega backs Government's ban on state-funded trips to cut financial losses

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Theophilus Dzimega Junior Esq, has expressed his support for the government's decision to cease state-funded trips for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and public institutions.

He emphasised that this decision is crucial for reducing the government's financial losses.

Mr. Dzimega asserted that some board members charge exorbitant expenses for their trips, placing an unnecessary burden on the government's finances.

He also pointed out that certain individuals may seek board positions during changes in government solely for personal gain, aiming to receive a percentage of the income generated through those roles.

"Indeed I have always had issues with the people appointed to certain boards; not only today, it has always been with persons we put on certain boards," he stated during an interview on GHone TV.

Furthermore, he noted the need for a societal shift in mindset, arguing that if the nation dismisses these seemingly minor costs as insignificant, they can accumulate over time and significantly contribute to government losses.

"We need to work with integrity and do the right thing. If we had done this in the first place, this direction would not have come," he uttered.
