'I may not have a certificate, but I've collaborated with 14 major brands in Ghana' - Nana Ama McBrown

Prominent Ghanaian actress and television host Nana Ama McBrown has encouraged young women not to let their academic qualifications limit their career paths, emphasising that passion and determination can lead to success.

She shared this empowering message at the fourth edition of the Women of Valour event held in London on March 7, 2026. Drawing from her personal journey, McBrown revealed that although she does not possess a formal academic certificate, she has successfully built a flourishing career and established partnerships with fourteen significant brands in Ghana.

According to her, success should not solely be gauged by academic achievements but also by one’s willingness to pursue what they genuinely love.

“I have no certificate, but I work with 14 big brands in Ghana. Aside from being on TV for good money, I also earn well from the side,” she stated, encouraging young women to trust their instincts.

McBrown advised individuals to seek out opportunities that bring them happiness rather than feeling pressured by societal expectations associated with their educational status.

The event, held at the London Hilton on Park Lane, gathered women from various professional backgrounds to engage in conversations about leadership, resilience, and personal growth.

The Women of Valour initiative, founded by renowned Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, has evolved into an international platform focused on sharing the experiences of women who have triumphed over significant life challenges.

The 2026 edition featured distinguished speakers from the media, advocacy, and development sectors, including Debora Shanley, known for her work in raising awareness about childhood sexual abuse.

Through testimonies, panel discussions, and networking sessions, the conference aimed to inspire women to overcome fear, reclaim their voices, and empower others through their personal journeys.
