'Mussa Dankwah never said cocoa farmers are happy about price cuts' - Miracles Aboagye

The Director of Communications for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has emphasised that Mussa Dankwah never claimed farmers were happy about price cuts.

In an interview on GHone Tv on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, he clarified statements regarding a recent poll conducted by the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah.

"Musa Dankwah has never said anywhere in his poll that they are happy; he never said also that cocoa farmers said they accept it. He said they said it's fair," he voiced.

According to him, Dankwah did not state in his poll that farmers expressed happiness or acceptance regarding the price cuts, highlighting the distinction between being "fair" and expressing happiness or acceptance.

"He only said 51% think it's fair, explaining that there's a big difference between 'it's fair' and 'I accept,' and there's a big difference between 'it's fair' and 'I'm happy.' It's not the same," Mr. Aboagye asserted.

He added that, while farmers may agree that price adjustments are reasonable due to global market conditions, this does not equate to satisfaction.

"It is fair means that you are telling me that because of the world market price, fairly, if the world market price goes down, you won't get the money to pay me. So if you ask me that question, I will agree with you that it is fair, but am I happy?"

He reiterated that the farmers are not debating the government but are only demanding a bailout.

"Every farmer is asking for a bailout; that is the farmers' demand. The farmers are not even debating the government as to why we got to where we are.

"They are only saying, give us a bailout. If you are able to buy pickup trucks, if you are able to renovate a plush house, then give us a bailout," he pointed out.

Mr. Aboagye acknowledged that while he often has disagreements with Mussa, he recognises that Dankwah did not indicate that farmers were happy in his poll.
