20 suspected drug peddlers arrested in dawn Police operation in Ashaiman

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 20 suspected drug peddlers during a pre-dawn intelligence-led operation in parts of Ashaiman.

The operation, conducted at about 6:10 a.m. on February 21, 2026, was led by Ashaiman District Police Commander Orlando Joseph Adzokpa, with support from ASP Ibrahim Bukari, 23 police officers and 10 Community Police Assistants.

Acting on intelligence, the team raided identified hotspots including Fitter-Line, Valco Flats (Spider Toilet area), New Town Junction, MTN Park and Jericho. The suspects, aged between 18 and 37, were rounded up during the coordinated exercise.

Items retrieved during the operation included nine motorbikes, boxes of machetes, scissors, lighters, packets of cigarettes and small quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Police say all suspects will be screened and profiled, with those found culpable to be arraigned before court. The Command has assured residents that similar operations will be sustained to flush out criminal elements and restore public confidence in security within the municipality.
