C/R: No Death Recorded - DCE debunks rumours after OSTECH-SWESBU clash

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Awutu Senya West District, Kalala Nyamekye Eghan, has refuted claims regarding a student's death during recent clashes between Obrachire Senior High Technical School (OSTECH) and Swedru School of Business (SWESBU).

Reports circulating in the media indicated that one student died as a result of violent confrontations at an inter-school sporting event hosted by SWESBU in the Agona West District. However, the DCE confirmed that no death has been recorded in connection with the incident.

Mr. Nyamekye clarified that while several students sustained injuries, most have been treated and discharged. He noted that currently, only one student remains in critical condition and is receiving care at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

“Is true but as if someone is dead, three children are involved, as usual it was Interco so Thursday afternoon, my students from Obrachire Secondary School.

"They said they saw people throwing stones on the field but they were SWESBU students. From the information we had, one of the children was beaten, so we rushed him to Swedru Government Hospital,” he said.
