Bawumia calls for unity as NPP turns focus to healing, rebuilding and future strategy

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to put aside internal disagreements from the just-ended campaign season, as the party begins a broader process of healing, rebuilding, and strategic repositioning.

Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged that the intensity of the campaign had strained relationships within the party, stressing that reconciliation was now critical to restoring cohesion and preparing for future political engagements.

Using the thanksgiving service as a moment of reflection, the NPP flagbearer appealed to party faithful to forgive one another for harsh words and actions exchanged during the campaign, describing unity as the foundation for the party’s long-term success.

“I want to ask all of us, from the bottom of my heart, that we forgive each other for some of the unpalatable things we may have said during the campaign,” he said.

Beyond the call for forgiveness, Dr. Bawumia pointed to early efforts by party members to reconnect after the elections, portraying them as encouraging signs that the party has begun the difficult process of internal recovery.

He noted that while the healing process was still ongoing, the willingness of members to reach out across former divides demonstrated a shared commitment to the party’s future rather than lingering campaign rivalries.
