A 45-year-old man has been arrested at Gomoa Dominase Onion Market for allegedly killing a woman in her 50s at Gomoa Potsin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
According to reports, the suspect raped and attacked the victim in a bush before pressing her neck, resulting in her death after a struggle.
The victim, identified as Habibah, sold cow milk and had gone to the farm early in the morning on Thursday, February 11. It is reported that the suspect ambushed her during this time.
Details indicate that the victim had previously sensed danger from the alleged assailant and called her son to inform him that someone wanted to harm her.
However, the attack occurred while she was still on the phone with her son.
After the call ended, her son quickly organised some friends to rescue her. On their way, they encountered the suspect, whose body was stained with blood. He denied killing the woman when confronted.
The group soon discovered that Habibah had been killed. In the ensuing confrontation, they began to beat him, but the police intervened swiftly to rescue the suspect.
He has since been taken to the Kasoa Central East Regional Police Command for processing.
