The Ministry of Education has invited the leadership of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to an urgent meeting to end the ongoing strike.
The meeting was scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026. The Ministry announced it in a statement issued on Sunday, October 11.
It said the meeting aims to facilitate constructive dialogue towards an amicable resolution of the impasse.
Government reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the concerns of organised labour through established negotiation mechanisms and constructive engagement.
The Ministry urged all parties to approach the talks in good faith and with a strong sense of responsibility. It cited the impact of the industrial action on students, university communities and the broader national interest.
It also called on GAUA’s leadership to seize the opportunity for meaningful engagement and to work with relevant stakeholders for an early resolution.
Government expressed optimism that the meeting would yield a positive outcome and pave the way for a swift return to normal academic and administrative activities across affected tertiary institutions.
