Oti Police intercept truck carrying 4,000 parcels of suspected narcotics

The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a large quantity of suspected narcotics concealed in a long trailer truck at Dambai.

The interception occurred on February 10, 2026, when police, acting on intelligence, stopped and searched a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09. Although the truck initially appeared empty, officers discovered that it had been modified with secret compartments sealed with six metal plates.

Upon opening the concealed compartments in the presence of the suspect, Amidu Jubril, aged 40, police retrieved 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances, wrapped in yellow masking tape and suspected to be narcotics.

The truck has since been impounded, while all exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Oti Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences, assuring the public of continued efforts to clamp down on criminal activities in the region.
