The Member of Parliament for Agona East and Chairperson of Parliament’s Local Government Committee, Queenstar Pokuah Sawyerr, has donated food items and an undisclosed sum to welcome newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch executives in Agona East on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Speaking at the event at her residence in Agona Kwanyako, she encouraged the executives to be honest and trustworthy to the party and to work hard in their branches to secure victory in the 2028 general election.

"Our new branch executives elected, I urge you to stay honest in NDC and Agona East and you will never get problem, if you know you are going to use your post to do different things change your mind and be trustworthy to the party. You should work hard for the victory of our party to make NDC attractive, if you work hard and I hear it I will call you and recommend you," she stated.

She said President John Dramani Mahama is still working to fulfil the promises he made to Ghanaians despite the challenges caused by the previous government, which she said left many problems that are making it difficult for the president to put things right.

She noted that the current administration is continuing projects abandoned by the previous government, unlike before when new administrations refused to continue their predecessors’ projects, and expressed optimism that "by the end of the year everything will be better."

Hon. Sawyerr announced that the first initiative is the Women’s Development Bank, which has started at Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), and that women in Agona East will be among the first beneficiaries noting that 500 women and 200 people living with disabilities will benefit, adding that applicants can access loans ranging from GHC1,000 to GHC300,000 depending on their business.

"It's President Mahama's vision to complete all the abandoned legacy projects by the NPP government before he will start new ones so if an NPP member tell you that things are hard because NDC is in government, tell them that inheriting difficult situation is not easy because they have already made things difficult in the country.

"The first thing they have started is our women's bank, the exciting thing is that starting the women's bank, CBG is starting from Agona East, they have given me 500 slots for women and 200 for the disabled, everyone is entitled to GHC1000 to GHC300,000 depending on the kind of job you are going to do," she said.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Mrs Charity Gardiner, also urged the executives to continue their good work and to continue voting for Queenstar Pokuah Sawyerr so she can remain MP for Agona East and continue her constituency work.

She noted that not all MPs engage with their branch executives as Sawyerr does and urged members to value her efforts.

Mrs Gardiner acknowledged that not all branch executives have yet shared in the rewards of the party's victory but promised that everyone will eventually benefit. She asked members to be patient, saying the rewards will be distributed gradually.
