The MasterCard Foundation, in partnership with the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), organised a four-day technical and vocational training programme for residents of the Ablekuma Central District in Laterbiokorshie.

The programme was held at the Presbyterian Technical and Vocational Training School from Wednesday, 18 to Friday, 21 August 2026 in Laterbiokorshie.  

The initiative was themed “Agriculture, Agric Business Entrepreneurship (AA2E)”, and it trained youths in the district on how to use flour to make bread, doughnuts, meat pies and other products.

Speaking to the media, the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) Head, Gloria Takyi, said that the main subject of the programme was cereal processing, aimed at helping young people gain employment.

“The main subject was on cereal processing, so the main reason for this training is to engage the youth or to help them gain employment. So next year God willing we'll continue and is something we do it annually,” she said.

Mr Alex Appiah, the resource person and a lecturer at the Presbyterian Technical and Vocational Training School, stated that the training would benefit the youth, adding that they could continue to apply the skills even after retirement.

He also advised participants that, in addition to acquiring technical and vocational skills, they should pay close attention to packaging.

“When they take it seriously it'll help them in their lives and in this world we don't work in only one job and when you have vocational skills you'll never go on retirement and even when you're 60 years you still have it.

“My advice to them is, they should focus on the job and before people will patronize your product it's about your packaging and they should package it in a nice to attract customers,” he advised.

Participants expressed that the training had broadened their understanding and equipped them with skills to help them establish their own businesses.
