Agona East MP opens Bernard Olu Sawyer Driving School to create jobs for youth

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East Constituency, Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyer, has launched a driving school to expand employment opportunities for young people in the constituency.

The initiative aims to equip young people with professional driving skills and help them obtain valid driving licences, thereby improving their chances of securing employment.

Speaking about the initiative, the MP said creating job opportunities for the youth remains one of her priorities, adding that the driving school will provide practical skills that can help reduce unemployment in the district.

"I realize that my government is in power so I have use that to create more jobs for people. So we have DVLA that are yet to commission and my opposite is driving school.

"God being so good, I and my children build the driving school in remembrance of my late husband and so is a boss driving school, Bernard Olu Sawyer Driving School and when you go inside you'll see it yourself.

"All the facilities are inside there, is a standard to Accra, they have their own air condition, their own chairs, everything is there, their washroom and is well set-up, projectors and we're making sure that everyone will be comfortable," she said.

However, some residents and community members have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards youth empowerment and improved livelihoods.

They urged the MP and other stakeholders to introduce further programmes that provide skills training and sustainable employment opportunities for young people in Agona East.
