A Nigerian woman has died after allegedly jumping from a three-storey building during a police operation targeting suspected sex workers at Atonsu in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred when the IGP’s Special Operations Team conducted a swoop in parts of Atonsu, according to eyewitness accounts.

Witnesses said the operation was aimed at arresting some women suspected to be engaged in sex work in the area. They claimed the deceased panicked upon seeing the police team and jumped from the top floor of the building.

“She ran and jumped from the third floor. Her head hit the ground,” an eyewitness told reporters.

The woman, who is believed to be a Nigerian national, reportedly sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

Authorities have yet to officially comment on the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the woman was being pursued by police officers at the time of the fall.

Further details are expected as investigations continue.
