The Western North Regional Police Command has interdicted eight police officers and launched a full investigation into a shooting in Sayerano, Juaboso District, that left two people dead.

In a statement, signed by the Head of Public Affairs, DSP Humphrey D. Amoah, the command said preliminary inquiries show a confrontation on July 7, 2026 between a police patrol team and members of the Sayerano community.

Three people sustained gunshot wounds; two of them later died, while the third and two other injured persons are receiving treatment at Asafo Roman Catholic Hospital.

All eight officers involved in the operation have been interdicted, and the Inspector‑General of Police has ordered the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to undertake a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The regional command thanked chiefs, community leaders and other stakeholders for their cooperation in restoring calm and assured the public that the investigation will be thorough.

The statement said further developments will be communicated as the inquiry progresses.
