The Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum East, Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, has commenced the implementation of one of the commitments he made during his 2024 campaign to provide relief to his constituents.
The MP stated that he pledged to repair a collapsed bridge connecting Berekum Mpatasie and Zongo, and has engaged a contractor to initiate the necessary work.
In an interview with the media, Mr Amparaabeng Kyeremeh emphasised that this initiative represents a social contract he established with the residents of Berekum prior to the 2024 elections, and stressed the importance of honouring such commitments.
He noted that there were two broken bridges; one has already been repaired, while the remaining bridge has been awarded to a contractor to be fixed as soon as possible to facilitate development in the Mpatasie and Zongo areas.
"It was a social construct we signed with Berekum during the time we were fighting for position. Things that were worrying Berekum was this bridge which was collapsed.
"The bridges were two, one is at Mpatasie and we've done with that one and road was their challenge and now constructors are on it. The last one is this bridge, that connect Zongo to Berekum Mpatasie," he said.
