Ghana to host ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers this March

Ghana is set to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier B from 24 to 29 March 2026 at the Achimota Cricket Oval in Accra. This competition will serve as the battleground for six nations vying for a spot on the global stage.

Hosts Ghana will face off against Malawi, St Helena, Eswatini, Seychelles, and Tanzania in a bid to keep their dreams of participating in the 2028 World Cup alive. The tournament follows a competitive round-robin format, meaning every run and wicket counts.

Each team will play against one another once, with no room for error in the hunt for the top two spots. The stakes could not be higher, as the two leading sides at the end of the week will progress to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Regional Qualifier.

This represents the final, decisive hurdle before securing a place at the prestigious 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

In a statement confirming the arrangements, President of the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) Emmanuel Asare called on local supporters to turn out in force at the Achimota School grounds.

The Ovals (A & B) are expected to provide a vibrant atmosphere as the "Gold Coast" stars look to make the most of their home-ground advantage.

For Ghana, hosting the event is not merely about the sport; it presents a significant opportunity to cement the country's growing reputation as a hub for international cricket in West Africa.
