The Ghana Education Service (GES), has suspended the salary of a Bole Senior High School teacher accused of inappropriate sexual misconduct with a student after he allegedly absconded.
The Director-General of GES, Prof Ernest Kofi Davis, emphasized that the case has been reported to the police and that the teacher has absconded.
He urged the Ghana Police Service to apprehend the suspect, stressing that children are not safe with such a person on school premises.
"So we have taken the steps to stop his salary, we interdicted him first and we had to take the steps to stop his salary and now we are pursuing him.
"Wherever he is we are appealing with the security agencies to apprehend him because he is not somebody who has to let closed, children are not safe around such a person so we are appealing to the Ghana Police Service to help apprehend him," he stated.
Prof Davis said the teacher will face the stiffest sanctions available to serve as a deterrent to others.
He added that teachers who engage in such misconduct will face both criminal prosecution and disciplinary action.
"We will apply the toughest sanction to serve as deterrent because we want our school environment safe and teachers who expose children the way we saw in the video do not have place at GES," he said.
