The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Berekum East Constituency, Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, has broken ground for the construction of the Senase Technical and Vocational Institute and the Sofokyere Basic School.
In fulfilment of his campaign promises to the Senase and Sofokyere communities, the MP handed over sites for the construction of a Technical and Vocational Institute at Senase and a Basic School at Sofokyere.
In an interview with the media, Mr Kyeremeh stated that the Senase project comprises an 18‑unit classroom block, an administration block and other ancillary facilities to train students in vocational and technical programmes.
He cited that, the Sofokyere Basic School will also provide an immediate learning environment for the emerging communities in the area.
"Education is the priority of President John Dramani Mahama so ever since he resume power for about a year and half, he has not play with education and this is what he's sharing it small, small which Berekum has gotten their share.
"This why today you've break the groud to start the Technical and Vocational school in Berekum and when you come to Sofokyere too, we're handing site to a contractor.
"At the same time, when you go Berekum Senior High School (SHS) we're building two storey girls dormentory and when you go to Kwakyerekrom too we're building six unit classroom block there," he said.
The managing director of Skytech Construction Limited, Wilson Amevor, assured that he will work within the 18‑month timeframe for the projects and deliver quality work for the people of Senase and Sofokyere in Berekum East.
