The National Council of Parent‑Teacher Associations (NCPTA), has called for the dismissal, prosecution and permanent removal from the teaching profession of a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region.
This follows the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing the teacher in a sexual relationship with a female student.
The footage, which spread widely on social media, provoked public outrage and renewed concerns about student safety in schools.
In response, the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced the interdiction of the teacher pending investigations and stressed its zero‑tolerance stance on sexual misconduct.
Speaking to Citi News, the General Secretary of the NCPTA, Raphael Kofi Gapson, described the alleged conduct as a gross abuse of trust and a violation of teachers’ ethical standards.
“We call it a betrayal of trust and crime against humanity. We urge that the offender should be prosecuted, dismissed and delisted from GES. He should be denied the opportunity to use his National Teaching Council Certificate to work,” he stated.
Mr. Gapson added that if investigations confirm the allegations, the teacher should not only lose his job but also have his professional licence revoked by the National Teaching Council (NTC), effectively barring him from teaching in any educational institution in Ghana.
He also urged GES to enforce its Sexual Harassment Guidelines.
“We also urge the GES to implement the GES Sexual Harassment Guidelines to protect our children in our schools,” he said.
GES has deployed a committee to investigate the matter in collaboration with security agencies.
The service has assured the public that those found culpable will face disciplinary action and legal consequences. No official charges have been filed yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
