Young lawyer Sarah Araba Tettey dies after collapsing during World Cup celebrations in Bomso

A newly private legal practitioner, Ms Sarah Araba Tettey, has died after collapsing during celebrations following Ghana’s victory over Panama.

According to reports, Ms Sarah Araba Tettey, an alumna of the KNUST Faculty of Law who was called to the Bar earlier this year, was watching the match with friends at a private hostel in Bomso, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), when she suddenly collapsed.

She was rushed to the KNUST Hospital where medical staff administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes, but she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Details surrounding the collapse remain limited. Reports indicate the cause was a suspected cardiac arrest, but no formal medical confirmation or post‑mortem result has yet been released.

Family members and colleagues have been notified, and the legal community at KNUST and beyond has expressed shock at her sudden death.

Authorities and the hospital have not issued further statements.
