Kennedy Agyapong voices confidence in fairness of party primaries

Former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has voiced his confidence in the fairness of the ongoing presidential primaries for the party.

In a media interview, Mr Agyapong stressed that he does not foresee a repetition of the troubling incidents that marred the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.

“I don’t think there will be a repetition of what happened in 2023. We hope it doesn’t happen. We have all done our job well to prevent rigging and everything, so I expect a fair contest,” he stated.

Should he emerge victorious in the primaries, Mr Agyapong pledged to prioritise unity within the party, highlighting the importance of cohesion leading up to the 2028 general elections. He reiterated that, regardless of the outcome, it is essential for the party to remain united.

“This shouldn’t be a problem at all. We’re all going to come together as one party and work. It’s a contest, and sometimes it gets tough, and some words are used which are not palatable, but that doesn’t mean we should go out of the party,” he explained.

Concluding his remarks, Mr Agyapong urged delegates to vote overwhelmingly in his favour, encouraging them to “vote number one.”
