Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a two separate fire incident in Accra over the weekends, with no casualties recorded.
According to the Service, the first incident happened at North Gate of Accra Academy, Bubuashie, where a Lexus RX350 caught fire late on Saturday night. Firefighter swiftly brought the blaze under control.
The inferno destroyed the vehicle's engine compartment, roof, dashboard, the back seat and tyres. No injuries were reported, investigations are underway to determine the cause.
In a separate incident at Dansoman Last Stop on Sunday, firefighters responded to a fire involving a tailoring shop operating in a metal container. The fire had already been extinguished before the firefighters arrival.
However the blaze destroyed three sewing machines, fabrics, tables, and chairs were destroyed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Ghana National Fire Service urged the public to regularly inspect electrical installations and observe fire safety precautions to prevent similar incidents
