Six students of Offinso Technical Institute (O.T.I.) were hospitalised following a clash between students and suspected Zongo Town boys on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
The incident occurred on the school premises a few hours after Eid prayers held by the town’s Muslim community.
A teacher, who asked not to be named, confirmed the event and said an existing feud between the two factions culminated in violence during the festival.
The injured students were admitted to St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase for treatment. Other students dispersed from the campus and remain unaccounted for.
"The suspected angry zongo boys also destroyed glass windows, doors, and others at both our boys' and girls' dormitories as well as our house master's residence".
The teacher said the school has filed an official complaint with the police in the hope that it will help to calm the situation.
He added that school management and Zongo leaders have met to discuss a way forward towards restoring peace.
