GES declares May 27 a public holiday for Eid ul‑Adha observance

Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared Wednesday, May 27, 2026 a public holiday to mark the observance of Eid ul‑Adha.

In a statement, it called on the Heads of Senior High and Technical Schools (SHS/SHTS) to adhere to this information.

The Service urged heads of schools to grant permission to students who wish to observe the Eid festivities, on the condition that they return to school by the close of the same day.

GES further advised Regional Directors to bring this information to the attention of all Municipal and District Directors of Education (MMDAs), as well as heads of schools within their respective jurisdictions, for necessary dissemination and compliance.
