Hip life music duo, Keche, have revealed that the group originally started with three members, but one eventually dropped out.
In an interview on Prime Morning on JoyPrime on Thursday, May 14, 2026, they explained that their strong bond and deep understanding of each other would make it difficult to add a new member.
Keche disclosed that the former member couldn’t endure the early struggles of their journey, stating he was more interested in appearances than the hustle required to succeed.
“When we started, we were three, but one couldn’t handle the hustle, he couldn’t cope with the studio life.
"Back then, we were basically ‘studio boys’; when stars came around, we were sent on errands. He saw himself as a ‘big boy’ and couldn’t do it," they said.
They further highlighted that they were willing to do whatever it took to succeed.
“For us, we didn’t care. We were ready to lie on the floor, roll, anything to get the opportunity. But the question is, will the next person be ready? Someone might see it and say, ‘No, this isn’t for me," Keche highlighted.
Keche stated that their connection goes beyond words.
“The way Andrew and I relate, it’s not easy to bring in another person. There are things Andrew can do that you can’t, and there are things I can tell Andrew that he will keep for life, but another person might not.
“We can sit somewhere without talking, and Andrew can give me a signal, and I’ll understand immediately. Sometimes I may be talking too much, and he’ll signal me to wrap it up. We’ve been together for a long time, so you can’t just join us after two or three years and fit in," they said.
