Debibi United FC have secured promotion to the 2026/2027 Ghana Premier League after defeating Tamale City FC 3-1 in the Access Bank Division One League playoff.
The highly anticipated playoff encounter was played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, May 13, with Debibi United delivering a dominant first-half display to seal qualification to Ghana’s top-flight league.
Forward Kwadwo Antwi emerged as the hero of the day after scoring a sensational hat-trick within 10 minutes to put Debibi United firmly in control of the contest.
Antwi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before adding two more goals in the 38th and 43rd minutes to complete his first-half treble.
Both Debibi United and Tamale City earned their places in the playoff after finishing top of their respective groups in Zone One of the Division One League.
Tamale City managed to reduce the deficit in the second half, but Debibi United maintained their advantage to secure the historic victory.
The result confirms Debibi United as one of the clubs promoted to compete in the Ghana Premier League next season, completing the list of teams advancing from the Division One League.
