The Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into custody for two weeks over allegations of offensive conduct and false publications.
The outspoken politician was rearrested on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, weeks after he was granted bail in connection with the same case.
Abronye DC was initially arrested on April 13, 2026, following allegations bordering on offensive conduct, false publication, and statements reportedly considered capable of causing fear and panic among the public.
He was later granted bail pending ongoing investigations.
However, security agencies have now taken him back into custody as investigations intensify into the alleged publications and public comments.
Authorities are yet to officially disclose the specific circumstances surrounding the latest arrest or whether new charges are expected to be filed.
Sources close to the investigations indicate that the case forms part of broader efforts by security agencies to clamp down on the spread of alleged misinformation and inflammatory public commentary deemed capable of undermining public peace and national security.
The case is expected to return to court after the two-week remand period as investigations continue.
