Mama Pat warns Ghanaians: Seek forgiveness to avoid prison's harsh realities

Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Mama Pat, has urged Ghanaians facing legal action to seek forgiveness promptly.

Speaking on Onua Showtime on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre, she shared her prison experience as a cautionary tale.

Mama Pat cautioned against any actions that could lead to imprisonment. “Whatever you do that could land you in prison, refrain from it. Don’t be deceived, don’t go there for the experience,” she warned.

“If you offend someone and that person takes you to court, sleep on the floor and plead for forgiveness,” she said.

She further urged Ghanaians to safeguard their freedom and repent from behaviours that might lead to incarceration.

"So if you are doing something please change because prison is very difficult, be very careful and protect the freedom you have now," she advised.

Mama Pat described her time in prison as profoundly challenging, recounting the poor food, early bedtimes, and grueling chores she endured.

“When I went to prison, I ate ‘zontoli,’ slept at 5:30 p.m., scrubbed gutters, cleaned toilets, and carried blocks. Prison is not a place anyone should want to be,” she recounted.

Mama Pat praised her husband for his unwavering support during her ordeal.

“If you’re not careful and insist you are right, you could end up in prison. If not for God, who appointed my husband like Moses in Exodus 12:13 to deliver the Israelites from Pharaoh, I would still be in prison.

"If not for God who stood by my husband like Jonah in the belly of the whale (Jonah 2), I wouldn’t have made it,” she said.
