The National Deputy Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn, has stated that claims of a GHC44 billion loss being circulated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are propaganda intended to undermine the progress of the Bank of Ghana.
Speaking at the NDC’s press conference on Thursday, May 7, 2026, he emphasised that such actions are not mere politics, but a coordinated attempt to erode public trust.
“In contracts claims of a Ghc44 billion lost being circulated by the NPP and unsubstantiated and pure propaganda aimed at undermining the progress of the Bank of Ghana, this is not mere politics, this is coordinated attempt to erode public trust,” he stated.
He added that in democracy, elections are not won through silence, but through credibility, trust and constant engagement.
He stressed that the NDC government has, within 17 months in office, taken decisive steps to stabilise the economy, restored investor confidence and implemented people-centred policies.
He noted that governance alone is not enough, arguing that communication is governance.
He asserted that the NDCs are not afraid of criticism, stating that it welcomes constructive scrutiny, but will not tolerate deliberate falsehoods, character assassination or coordinated propaganda, adding that they will confront every lie with facts.
