Adwumawura Programme: NEIP CEO clarifies support beyond funding

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr. Eric Adjei Esq., has addressed concerns raised by beneficiaries of the Adwumawura Programme, affirming the government’s commitment to supporting youth-owned businesses.

In a recent statement, Mr. Adjei emphasised that the programme is not solely about funding, but is designed to provide a comprehensive package of support to at least 10,000 youth-led businesses annually.

“The Adwumawura Programme isn’t just about funding; we have been clear on this since its launch,” he stated. “It seeks to provide a series of activities to build the capacity of youth entrepreneurs across the country.”

So far, NEIP has completed five weeks of intensive entrepreneurship training nationwide. Training partners and innovation hubs have been providing continuous mentorship to beneficiaries who wish to receive guidance for a period of six months. These partners are also helping beneficiaries refine their business plans, which will soon be submitted to NEIP for assessment.

Mr. Adjei announced that an independent Grant Management Committee will be inaugurated to evaluate business plans and make funding recommendations. He also highlighted ongoing collaborations, including an MOU with the Ministry of Agriculture to support youth involved in the “Nkokonketee” poultry initiative, promising birds and feed for beneficiaries once lists from training partners are completed.

Additionally, the programme offers support for business registration with the Registrar of Companies and assistance in obtaining licenses from key regulatory bodies such as the Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Standards Authority, and Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

Mr. Adjei urged all beneficiaries to ensure their business plans are submitted and ready for pitching before the Grant Disbursement Committee. He concluded by reaffirming NEIP’s dedication to the growth and success of youth enterprises.

“Our commitment, dedication, and determination to supporting your businesses remain unwavering,” he stated.

The next phase of the Adwumawura Programme will focus on business development activities designed to strengthen the capacity and growth of youth-led ventures nationwide.
