Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to resume OPD services after doctors call off strike

Doctors at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) have announced that Outpatient Department (OPD) services will resume on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, following the suspension of their strike action.

The Korle-Bu Doctors Association (KODA) accused members of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of restricting Laboratory Physicians’ access to the Central Laboratory and attempting to influence who is permitted to work there.

KODA said this was a key factor behind the strike action.

In a statement signed on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, by KBTH Chairman, Dr Asare Offei, the industrial action, which began on Monday, May 4, 2026, was called off after discussions between KODA and hospital management.

KODA stated that the decision followed assurances from management that Laboratory Physicians would return to their places of work.

The Association has therefore urged all its members to resume OPD duties on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
