GES confirms death of two BECE candidates in road accident

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed the tragic death of two Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

The deceased have been identified as Taufii Ibrahim and Abdul Khalid, both students of Charia Roman Catholic Junior High School in the Upper West Region.

Preliminary reports indicate that the two candidates lost their lives following a road traffic accident on Sunday, May 3, while en route to Wa to join their colleagues ahead of the commencement of the BECE.

"We are deeply saddened that these young lives, full of promise and potential, have been cut short under such distressing circumstances,.

"Management and staff of the GES, and the entire education community, extend our heartfelt condolernces to the bereaved families, the school, their classmates, and all who have been affected by this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time," it stated.

The management has assured the public that it will continue to liaise with the appropriate authorities to gather full details of the incident and explore measures to prevent similar occurrences in future.

"May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace," it added.
