Central Regional Minister urges meals for BECE candidates to ensure exam comfort

The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Eduamoa Okyere, has appealed to the Ministry of Education to provide meals for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates during the exam period.

He argues that this measure would prevent discomfort from unsuitable morning meals. While touring examination centres in the Central Region, the Minister urged the government and the School Feeding Secretariat to supply meals for candidates nationwide.

He explained that some candidates become unwell in the examination hall due to their breakfast, with instances of vomiting during papers.

Mr. Eduamoa Okyere also advised candidates to take their studies seriously and avoid examination malpractices.

"What I will appeal and something I will like to do for now is to appeal to the Minister of Education and maybe I have to even start from the school feeding coordinator.

"One thing I have seen is that, if it'll be possible the subsequence examination from next year let's have an arrangement to feed them and even where the schools are, where the examination centres are.

"Under school feeding program since the pupil are not in school, the cooking is not going on and so if we can have arrangement for the period, the one week period that the examination is going on, we can have arrangement where the centres would be fed," he suggested.
