2026 Aboakyir Festival: Effutu MP urges Ghanaians to protect their culture and heritage

Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo Markin, has urged Ghanaians to protect their culture and heritage.

According to him, Ghanaians should value and safeguard their culture and heritage rather than downgrading it. He also stated that white people do not downplay their culture.

Hon. Afenyo Markin further entreated Ghanaians not to allow any group of people to condemn their culture and heritage.

Addressing the media during the 2026 Aboakyir festival celebrations, Hon Afenyo Markin urged that a person without a cultural identity has nothing to aspire to.

"A person without cultural identify has nothing to aspired for, so is the culture that gives you aspiration, the history of culture gives inspiration so the Western people that they're have developed they don't downplay with their culture but just that they're not saying it.

"So we the Roman people, when the father is praying before we take in Communion, in the prayers it says we should remember that we'll die and go. What is the reason why I'm their prayers they say we'll die and go?"

Hon. Afenyo Markin also commended the people of Winneba for celebrating the 2026 Aboakyir festival peacefully.
